  • Rolling In

This is from the highest point in Champaign County, Illinois. I often come to this spot because you can see for 20 miles or more. On this particular day it was near sunset and the clouds from a storm front were quickly rolling in.

  • A few weeks back I spent a day looking for Bald Eagles in the Land Between the Lakes. After 8 hours of not seeing I decided to head back home. I made the turn onto my road and there waiting for me was this Bald Eagle. Just shows sometimes you don’t need to get far from home to find what you’re looking for.

  • Elk were reintroduced to Land Between the Lakes in the late 1990’s. They have a large area to roam and are intermixed with a Bison heard.

  • Red Tailed Haw and Blue Jay

Happy New Year! We have some great weather the last few days. This Blue Jay was flying so close to the Red Tailed Hawk. The hawk just ignored it however.

  • Sunset near St. Joseph, Illinois
  • The Yaks at KRK Ranch and Fees are enjoying the cold weather and snow. East Central Illinois has had about 16 inches already and it’s not even officially winter yet!

    Midwest Winter Sunset

It has been extremely cold here on the Illinois Prairie. The day I took this photo it was -2 degrees outside. But the sun did put on a grand show as it set across the western horizon.

  • A cold morning at Homer Lake.

  • The snow came through with about 7 inches and the temperature dropped behind it. Winter is here.
  • The northern lights out on quite a show on the evening of November 11. I was down in Kentucky and they were very visible over Lake Barkley. Simply beautiful.
